Home Sweet Home

Finally home! It's so so nice to be be back in our own home in our own bed : ) I think it might take me a little getting used to, traveling around and not being able to be home all the time. I am really excited, however, for Spring Training and for this season; it's going to be a great first year with my husband and with Sadie!

real estate and icecapades

Yesterday, the wife of the guy who runs all the travel arrangements for the Indians, took me and Dara around Cleveland and the suburbs to check out places to live for future reference. It was great to get out and about and see some of the more residential areas of Cleveland. There was this awesome area about 15-20 minutes away where Patty (the wife of the travel guy) treated us for lunch. When we got back I took another 3 hour nap (I'm still feeling a bit under the weather) and when the guys got back, we went to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships! It was actually a blast and really fun to watch. Dara knows two girls who works for the U.S. Olympics and they're both here and were able to get us all free tickets; Dara and I are going back today and the guys are going to join us this evening; the Senior skaters are starting today and it's supposed to be great these next couple of days.

Mark Shapiro, Indians GM, Ben Francisco and Beau went to dinner last night and had a Q and A with some of the fans...The above link is a more detailed article. Pretty cool! I am very proud and very excited for my husband.

Sick

Yesterday was a bad day. Woke up sick, slept all day, went to bed sick.
Overall, not a good day.

i love you more than...

How cute are these? Found these on another blog and I thought you all would enjoy them : )

Hey Dadda Babba, look what I found!

CADILLAC RANCH RESTAURANT! We were all pretty excited and agreed that I must post a picture in honor of the greatest dairy name of all time : ) We're going to try and find it today and perhaps get a Cadillac Margarita, you're fave Pa! Love you Dad...

Big Night in the City

The la Portas, Jake and Abbey and Beau and I went out to a delicious dinner at a fancy joint called The Blue Point. After, we dropped Jake and Abbey off at the movies to see Gran Torino (they weren't feelin' the orchestra thing) as the rest of us headed to Severence Hall to see the Cleveland Symphony perform. The Cleveland Indians treated all of the players that are here for Winter Development to tickets to see the performance. I loved loved loved it, Beau wasn't too into it at the beginning but the last piece that they played he really enjoyed. When the show was over, our group got to mingle with some members of the orchestra and have drinks and hors d'oeuvres. I think it is absolutely incredible listening to an orchestra-the music was beautiful and I had a lovely evening.

GO CAVS!

Pic below: a view from our box at the Cleveland Cavaliers game (they played the New Orleans Hornets, Jake's favorite team. Too bad our Cavs beat your Hornets and your favorite player got ejected huh?)
Pic on the right: the Flake Dawg and Jakey-Poo...their seats happened to be RIGHT in front of our box...How weird is that? Aren't they a precious couple?!

Ab and Jake got in at about 4:30 last night and we hung out until Beau got home. Then we went to get dinner before the game. We went to 5, count 'em FIVE, restaurants until we found one that wasn't an hour wait...The House of Blues is where we ended up and it was very yummy, down home cookin', southern lovin' food.

The game was alright but it was just great to be there and our box was incredible! Some of the Indians' front office was there and all the players that are at winter camp with Beau were there too. We got home around 11:30 pm.

Woke up this morning around 9 and got some free breakfast before Beau was off to Yoga...Ab, Jake and I got ready and hiked the 2 blocks to the mall (it was SO cold) where we proceeded to get a Caribou Coffee for Jake and Abbey and then went to the Sweet Factory and got pounds of candy : )

Just got back to the room, watchin' Meet the Fockers and about to go to lunch and watch the Calvin vs Hope game...

The Word

Matthew 4:4

Jesus answered, “It is written:
‘Man does not live on bread alone,
but on every word that comes
from the mouth of God.’”

CSI is the highlight of my day...

This show has been a large part of my day...If you are wondering why, it is because there is a marathon of CSI that has been playing all day because, I regret to say, Grissom is leaving CSI tonight on the newest episode! Tear....So, I'm soaking up as much as I can.

To change to subject...Today was cold, 7 degrees but -11 with wind chill. I did have to bundle up and prance around outside because I needed to make a trip to
CVS to buy some water and Vitamin Water and for me, nail polish : )

I had a long workout this morning which felt great and did laundry. My big project is trying to find a place for me and Beau to live in Goodyear during Spring Training. It's a hard thing to try and find, a place that is furnished and let's you rent for only a month and a half...But I'm working on it.

A couple nights of the week, the hotel has a little appetizer get-together downstairs. Tonight it's "BBQ",
so I think we and the la Porta's are gonna hit up the hot wings and then I'm going to make spaghetti for Beau before our date with the TV at 9 pm for Grissom's goodbye on CSI! Tune in, it'll be a real good one.

That's me on the right -->

No not really. But seriously, that's what it looks like outside my window...people all around Cleveland are battling the snow and wind with their umbrellas. Currently, it's snowing and very windy and bitter cold.
I am not one of those people like you see in the picture to your right because I am comfy cozy snuggled up in my room watching Ellen.

But I did venture out into the blizzardous (is that even a word?) weather with my new baseball wife friend, Dara, to see the movie Bride Wars. It was quite cute.

In other news, our hotel has this cool thing they do. You make up a grocery list and
bring it to the front desk by 9 am...by the afternoon, your groceries are at your door and ready to be put away, free of charge! Well I mean you have to pay for the groceries of course but not the service-how sweet is that? I am going to attempt to be Suzy Homemaker in our hotel kitchenette. I'll let you know if I'm successful.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Oh man, we are getting DUMPED on over here. This pic is the view from outside our hotel room window. I went down to the front desk to pick up a fax from the Freud People (still trying to work out the identity theft fiasco) and Colleen, that's the lady at the front desk, told me that it is supposed to be so bitter cold the next couple days. The weather man said that on Thursday it's going to be the coldest it's been yet this winter with a windchill from -20 to -30 degrees...We Cali folks aren't exactly accustomed to this weather but we are surprised to find that we are very much enjoying the snow and cold weather! Let's see if we feel the same in 10 days...

Stealing is very VERY bad

Yes, it DID happen to me...Today I logged on to my online bank account to discover, to my horror, that someone had purchased a $400 plane ticket with my card, leaving me with absolutely nothin' left...So, I called and canceled my card and we're hoping to catch the little booger who stole my moola...

Our Princess Sadie

Our precious baby girl! Beau and I fell in love with her as soon as we set eyes on her in the Grover Beach Pet Store. She is now nine weeks old and is such a good little girl! She's staying with Nana and Papa Mills while we're gone...we miss her.......

Cleveland... oh Cleveland

Well, today is our first day in the grand city of Cleveland, OH. Beau was a bit tired rolling out of bed this morning because of our 17 hour rendezvous through 5 airports yesterday. But we made it! At midnight we collected our bags from the airport and walked toward the automatic doors, dreading the freezing cold air that we knew was coming...as I stepped outside and breathed deep, my chest started to have a slight burn because of the sting of the cold night air! It snowed about a foot in the last couple of days and it was a winter wonderland-at least that's what Beau and I thought, comparing it to the dreary fog we had left behind in the Valley.
We finally arrived at the hotel and crawled into bed at the wee hour of 1:30 am...
He was up at 6:30 and had a long day, not coming home until 4 pm.
While he was at the park, I wondered the streets of Downtown trying to get my bearings, worked on this blog, and worked out. When Beau came home, his friend and teammate, Matt la Porta and his wife Dara, called us to see if we wanted to go shopping for scarfs, gloves and then go to dinner afterward.
On the way to dinner, two black homeless guys, each with a roll of carpet underneath their arms used for sleeping, harassed our guys, begging for money...what a way to start off our first night in Cleveland huh?
After purchasing scarfs from the Dollar Store, we headed out to find dinner. We went to this great Mexican place, chowed on about 4 baskets of chips, made great conversation and made some new friends. Matt and Dara are AWESOME and I feel so blessed to have met a fun, Christian couple...
Now, Beau and I are sittin' in our hotel room, flipping between the Bachelor and 24. It's supposed to snow, snow, snow tomorrow and later in the week get down into the SINGLE DIGITS! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr................
